Survivor Bonanza MX1510

Got this from an antique engine collector I know from a local tractor show.

Story goes when he was a kid, his neighbors 2 kids got a pair of brand new MX1510s and within a couple weeks one of the kids hit a power pole guide wire. The boy survived, bike was wrecked and the mom said for the dad to get rid of the bikes. Instead the dad put the nearly unused one in the basement and got rid of the wrecked one. At that time it had only been ridden a handful of times around the yard. Then in the 90s, my friend inquired the family about a old snowblower they had and it was brought up they still had the bike in the basement. He got it from them, got it running, and once again it has barely ever ridden.

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, it was under a sheet in his climate controlled machine shop and maybe has 5hrs of run time total on it. He added the slip on silencer and after getting a SEVERE burn on his leg he added a heat shield on the muffler so his son could ride it. At some point he did get a toolbox off of a hodaka dirt bike and mounted it on the bike. Otherwise, it's all original and besides some dirt is perfect and well kept! Still even has some of the nubs on the outer sides of the tires. Probably the nicest survivor I've ever had in the garage that's for sure!

That is a unicorn right there.

I always wonder the story behind bikes and equipment I've found that were never ridden.

We bought a 1973 cub cadet that was used only once or twice. The guys grandpa bought it brand new. Used it a few times and he had a heart attack. Went to the guys dad who had a tiny city lot. Then went to the son that we bought it from that had bigger equipment. 40 year old nearly new tractor.

Bought a sears 1960 suburban tractor that was nearly new. Bought it from the original owner. He cut his grass with it once. It stood up on his hill and threw him off. He never got back on it again. Parked it in the shed and bought a different tractor.
