Swing-arm and Jackshaft sprockets very close

#1
I have taken a picture of the underside of my minibike. The sprockets on the jackshaft are both 15 teeth. The distance between the tipss of the teeth and the shaft of the swing-arm is only about 1/4". Is this normal? Or should the sprocket on the engine driveshaft side have fewer teeth so that its diameter would be smaller and hence give the chain a little more room to travel thin this small gap? See pic.

Thanks,
Eric the novice

Yep...should be fine. It is by the rear swing arm pivot point and the chain and teeth should clear with no problem. But that one sprocket looks toasted and should be replaced.

They are both pretty bad. I will be ordering all new parts for a complete jackshaft. I'm not seeing the exact shaft length I need at OldMiniBikes Warehouse so I assume that I will be cutting one down to the correct length.
