I stopped buy the powder coating shop yesterday to see weather or not I want to have my Taco powder coated. After looking at the color choices it seems that the only way to get the color right is to do a two stage coat. Unfortunately that makes it cost twice as much:doah:. Has anyone had a Taco done with a single coat that looks right? If so I would like to see a picture. Thanks

I've had several min-bike frames PCd, and they really came out nice... Also my Taco 44 is currently waiting in the wings for restoration but the PC seems to have no colors close to the purple required.

Surely there is some out there somewhere, but apparently they have to order it in such a large quantity and unless you want to pay for the whole batch, it's not feasible for them to go to the trouble.

Yes, you have to do a 2-stage process for the Taco Purple color . Look at MBPauls post about his T100 to see the results . It cost us about $135 to have it done .

Considering the other options of color mixing and clear coats PC seems to be the wave of the future. I know my Schwinn Guy needed to buy powder by the bucket to get his colors right.

When, priming and painting and clear is necessary $135.00 is a deal and a half leaving money for the other components to be refurbished.

MBP, will have a nice bike and will get down and dirty when necessary...

cool it you little midget!

:censure: me for asking
Tomsprops is an collector and sold MBP the bike. It was original and unmolested survivor.

Paul took it too the next level and restored a true origianal survivor. Your question was valid!.? The money it cost to do a refirb is huge since the bike is so rare to begin with. We as normal mini bike people, do not know if something is original to the bike and if Tom owned and sold it, the answer is a strong YES! :anon.sml:

Cool it or Strig will issue you a warning to cool your engines... He's the baad ass that has his eye on you now..!/? :hang:  :surrender: :scared:

Not to change the topic of this thread.? It's good to see GTO posting. I found the 22 cal Marlin tube feed on sale and want to get a varmit rifile....

Yes, it's true about PAINTING. I have gone that route. It's a trememdous amount of labor intensive sanding and painting to get the killer finish. Then you put on a kill button and it's still soft. So, not to bag on Powdercoating>> I prefer painting to keep the bike as original as possible. Furthermore, nobody else know's the difference, they see purple and that's it. So, if you fussy and you have six months for the paint to completly cure then assemble, Painting is for you and I. If you are trying to match an original color painting is easier.

I guess it is alot like beer. Taste Great-Less Filling>???

TT out. Roger that 10-4..
