Tec carb on 5hp flat head Briggs

#1
I'm trying to build a 5hp flat head. I want to use a remote tank. I already bought the tillotson manifold just need to know what Tec carb to use. Not really building the engine up or anything. Maybe smooth some things out.

use whatever aftermarket carb that Chad sells for the Hs50 motor. Just try to get one with a 90 degree inlet and see how the choke lever rotates. The snow blower carbs have a different choke lever that works OK as long as you remember which way they turn on/off

Hs50 Eric. I thought I was a h50 and up. Not sure though that's why I'm asking.
Shhhh...it's probably the same carb! Both are 5HP engines. I have bought both and they appear the same! Also depends on what mode have been done to the mnotor and what your goals are. I have used these carbs on ungoverned, cammed engines and they work well!

I know you're watching your carbs Karl, but that carb will be fine! Also make sure it has the adjustment screw under the bowl!

Where TRK when you need him.
Fifteen minute tirade on why Briggs carbs were the worst piece of junk ever designed.
He put tec carbs on everything.

I'm running a carb on my raptor that was used on the hm80. I'd snap some pics, but I can't upload them. I'm running a remote tank, and I didn't want to use ally, so the tec carb was my first try. I'm kinda wishing I'd gone with a Mikuni slide carb now, but only because I haven't used one on a mini, and the throttle cable hook up looks really easy.

Can you send some pics of your set up and how you did your throttle set up off of the carb.

Not really much to see on a Mikuni throttle. It goes into the top of the carb and cannot be seen. The end of the cable goes into the bottom of the slide. I have a Mikuni with manifold if you are interested!

I sent a quick video of my Tec carb on my Raptor. I'm hoping to fire it up this afternoon and see what it can do. I'd post video, but I can't seem to add pics. I've never had trouble until recently. I can't seem to delete any of the pics in my box to free up space. Anybody know what's up?

what bore size did you get on the intake? most Tilly intakes are too big for a tec carb..the Briggs intake works perfect for this..

That does look nice. I went with a Tec carb that had a 1" bore (or really close to it) because I was told that a Raptor would need a bigger carb. I'm pretty sure the manifold has a bore that is close to 1". I just got the motor on the bike the other day, and I am ready to fire it up. I just added oil the other day, and I realized I had a bad spark plug. I got a new one, but I need to stick it in and give it a pull. We'll see how it works out!

I got the email. Thank you. Seems pretty straight forward. I have 2 carb set up options so we'll see what I can do.
