The Ultimate Off Road Bonanza Build Returns

#1
Well I am getting started on this build again. For those that didn’t see this from the beginning I started with a bare bonanza frame and fabricated pretty much everything else. Here are some pics from the original build

I built a pretty sufficient engine and went and raced the Gambler 500 enduro race in central Oregon. It was a 100 mile race consisting of 22 laps on a off-road trail style track. I ended up getting 2nd place out of about 150 teams. I was extremely happy and proud of my build I didn’t break down once and not one part failed on me.

So now here we are a few months away from the next race. I have a lot of things I want to change and tweak to the bike. I’m going for 1st place this year. This is a short list of things I want to accomplish before the race on May 16

I pulled the engine today and drained the oil. The oil looked clean no metal shavings so I am happy to see that the engine appears to be in good shape. I will be tearing into it and further inspecting down the line. The frame will be getting some slight modifications including taller jackshaft mounts to incorporate the torque converter, reinforcing the engine mount, different foot pegs, and a steering stop. And hopefully have it painted by the race. I’m planning on doing the silver frame and orange accents to mimic an original MX Bonanza. Stay tuned this will be a build to keep your eye on

You never mentioned using a 308 dyno. Then you could use a 32mm intake, especially if using 1.2 or 1.3 ratio rockers.
I’m looking into the 308 or the mamba sr. I think the added compression with the 14cc head will help me and larger valves are a must I’m just indecisive. My current setup isn’t bad I just know I can get more out of this engine

Just remember bryan your not building a drag bike. You need it to perform well at low end mid range too. On the trails.
There is point you can go to much for you off road trail riding race.
We all here want you to do good....win
Safe to say you are OldMiniBikes racer for next gambler race.
Good luck.

I agree 100% the engine upgrades will be the last thing I do I might end up not doing all that I planned I really need to test the tav setup and if I am happy with gearing top speed and overall power I may leave the engine alone

The Carlisle Snow Hog tires are great all around tires. I have run them on loose, wet rock, dirt, mud and and even pavement and they always perform great!!! Use some tire slime in the tubes and you'll be happy with them. Also try to get the ones that are made in the U.S. as the foreign ones don't seem as strong.

Those are the ones I’m going to try out
