Was going to buy a set of grips and notice a bolt & looks like lock nut on underside of grip (see picture). Anyone know what it's for? Only thing I can think of is some type of governor? can I just remove bolt & nut?
the bolt goes against a spring which rubs on the rotating throttle. basically it makes a throttle a "dead man's" throttle. I always remove the spring and put the bolt back (because i want my throttle to spring back to 'idle' when i let go.)
Some people call it a "poor man's cruise control". On older, pre-fuel injection motorcycles, it's primary use was to warm the engine, after cold start up, without having to hold the throttle.
It's a pore man's cruse control. It's actually to lessen the looseness of the throttle so you can be smoother in ruff trails or roads. just back it off or move it in to where you like it. It does not stop the amount of rotation just looseness.
