Thunderdrome Detroit

#2

I haven't ridden a mini bike since I was a kid. I don't have one but was wanting to try putting one together. I may just be a spectator at this event, but for sure by next race, I will be there.........

I plan on going, I just need to come up with a race suit or something to pass the safety equipment requirements. Looks like fun.

No need for race suit. Just helmit, gloves, glasses, jeans, leather or work coat, boots and common sense. But if you just go up there on any random weekend..it at your discretion.

Nice, looking at the rules it says that minibike motors must be vertical stroke so does that mean my 212cc predator does qualify?

If you go on Google maps and put in "Dorais Playground‎, Detroit, Michigan", there is a pretty good aerial view of the track.

Totally agree cheezy1. Was just posting in case someone wanted to see what the track looked like, or possible directions.

I saw on the Thunderdrome.com web site, that you can register online now if you cared to race. :scooter:

Got am email yesterday and the races are all going to be under the lights this time, races start at 6:00pm and go till midnight. They are having bands, food trucks and local beer. This sounds down right crazy.

Hi everyone! Andy here with The Thunderdrome!

I'd be so excited to have you all come out and race that I'm going to sweeten the pot real good. If you use discount code OLDMINIBIKESFORLIFE you'll get $10 (!!) off your entry fee -- making it just $15 to race! And all the proceeds go back into fixing up the track.

You can't beat that with a rusty torque wrench.

Details and tickets here: Dorais Velodrome: September 15th, 2012 ‹ The Thunderdrome!

Thank you.

I still need a mini bike. My uncle got one just for this event and I was going to also. Anything will do, as long as it is somewhere near 300 bucks.. anyone have one? for sale?
