( TILLOTSON )HL -232 729 Carburator Discussion

At this point, I am looking for a carb to put on a Clinton 7 horse boat motor to go kart conversion and this one is very close.
I don't need a direct replacement, just a bigger Tillotson than the one from a 100cc chainsaw that seems to struggle on this engine. Thanks for asking! I have an HL232E on another engine, but I like it where it is.

Let me go thru my collection. have you already looked at the chinese Stilh chainsaw carbs? They have a fairly large venturi.

I already bought this carb, but if you have another carb with a butterfly of 1 inch or more, I'm interested.
I think I have some Chinese Stihl carbs. I think they are smaller. They work well on the 75-100 cc saw motors.

So found a few HL's with external pulse port. How big is your clinton? I thought it was a D or E65 size but it must be larger than that. I do have a HL375 that is external pulse port and is a large bore for a HL, but are a racing carb and have no choke. The Stihl carbs I have are large 1 inch bore with a .760 venturi. The 375A I have are new so not cheap but the Stihl I carbs are dirt cheap, I will give you mine just for shipping but if yours are the same no need to. Can you measure the one you have?

I have a D25 and a D35 Clinton but this one is a 7 horse boat motor powerhead. I can check but Ithink it is about 10 ci. AI says it is 7.2 ci. I don't agree with that. It's physically much larger than a D35.
I can get the carb off and measure it. I think the butterfly is 1 inch and it has internal pulse port. It is mounted on a barnmade spacer with a pulse hole drilled in it. I would rather rig something to use the pulse port in the case rather than into the reed valve.

This carb says Tillotson made in Ireland only on the white plastic fuel inlet cover. It has no other markings and it has a 1 inch bore. I don't remember where I got it, but I suspect it's whatyou are calling a Chinese Stihl saw carb. Thank you for looking. I think I will continue with what I have until I get it closer to completion and actual tuning.
