Time to take out the Trail King....

#1
After the ride on my Hawg-Ty it is time to get the Homlite Trail King on the trails again. A fun mini bike with one rough ride! It has one leaf spring in the frames middle section and old school wheelbarrow tires. It is built-like-a-tank, and with the two speed gearbox will climb most objects found on a mountain hiking trail. I has a CHI-Com engine now putting out 9 HP due to a slight modification.
A charging system for onboard batteries and charging a cell phone. A LED Head light was added and a flashing red tail light added to help prevent being rear-ended by motorcycle riders doing 80 MPH on some of the trails. It is a common problem here in NM.
The mini had just been restored to riding condition.

The TK does OK in "normal" trail mud.

As it stands today.

8 Amp charging coils, Voltage regulator, LED lights, Li-ion battery pack, cell phone charger, and a rear tire mud flap to stop
the mess when riding on muddy trails. I built a tuned exhaust pipe with a quiet muffler and spark arrester. The sound is a
nice low rumble, not at all what you'd expect.

I got motivated today and dug out the Trail King. After a bath, I changed the engine oil, cleaned out the carburetor (the little idle jet always like to clog on these CHI-COM engine clones) adjusted the chain tension, lubed the chain and all the chassis Zirk fittings and checked the tires and filled the front t o8 PSI and the rear t o10 PSI, just enough for a "smooth" ride but not slip the tire under load and tear the inner tube.
I took the TK for a two-mile ride and all is working normally on the back roads and maxed out on pavement.
I did a short video on the mini running, it is very windy here, sorry for the sound.
