can you put a tubeless tire onto a tubed tire wheel?

or can you put an inner tube into the tubeless tire? (and it still handle the same)

if it matters, the wheel is not spokes.

Yes-Just don't have both beads seated and the stem pulled tight when you put the first of the air in so the tube fills the space before the tire seals and makes it hard to get the air between the tube and the tire out. As for the opposite the only thing that's a no-go is a tubeless tire with no tube on a tube type rim.

How does a tube-type wheel differ in looks from a tubeless tire wheel? That is to say, if I have (used) wheels with no tires on them, how can I tell which ones I have? Is the valve stem hole through the wheel larger (suspected) on a tubeless type wheel?
Thank you!

I understand everything that has been said here. Great info.
My question is, is there a downside to putting a tube in a tubeless tire? Like maybe makes it handle worse , ect.. I have thought each time Ive changed a tire to just put a tube in to make sure of no leaks or easy repair if needed, but wondered if there was a downside to adding it without an actual need for it. Thx:scooter:

Shouldn't be a problem. The tube is there in large part for support. So if a tire needs no tube, it has enough support. Adding a tube just adds more support and helps it seal. The only change in handling will come with the tread and size of the tire. It should be just the same as changing between styles of tube type tires.

tubless tires fit tighter on the bead. if you pull the standard tire off a split wheel and change to a tubeless tire. the tire fits much tighter. if you dont need a tube, why wast the green. tube is needed on non sealed wheels or sealed wheels with the valve stem in them that just wont seal for some reason, like the bead is too rusty damaged bead or just a low quality wheel.
