Valve float?

Well I thought after a rough week at work welding in this horrible hot humid weather I'm over it and took vacation. It's took 2 days to get back to baseline recovering from heat exhaustion and dehydration. Today I built the 224 stroker from rpq. Still sticking with 70mm bore for now but running their re-enforced block and 58mm crank they said was heavy balanced and a flat top piston. Arc 6269 rod. I thought i was gonna have to get new push rods cause of the .080 taller deck but I end up using the stock ghost lifters which are quite a bit taller than anything else I had and stock 5.825 nr molly push rods and thin less than a gram lash caps. Still running the ported ghost head (unmilled) with 26lb springs and billet aluminum retainers from ec carbs. Snuck in a 12 degree timing key. I was running a .045 head gasket but now a .010 steel coated shim gasket. I did clay it and had .100 clearance on valves so we gonna see tomorrow. I did have to grind clearance alot on center of cam a little on block for oil slinger and bottom of cylinder just a touch. Will post after break in.

Ok guy I have indeed swapped on a amazon 30 series tav. It turned into w wheely machine haha....but also killed alot so speed. 70 to 38 mph to be exact. This is with no other changes mind you. The acceleration is fantastic as expected if I can keep the wheel down. I can be running 25 and twist throttle quick and it will pack the tire. The total loss of top speed is unbearable though. I have swapped a (comet) green spring into the driven pulley set in 1st hole. Trying to delay shift to overdrive cause its bogging this poor engine and not revving high enough to let cam do its job. I think its the same issue but now its more exaggerated due to the converter. I swapped my 50 tooth sprocket out for a 60 the other day but haven't got a chance to run it yet due to rain and working nights. Hoping it will now be able to rev out so I can use some of the power I paid for when I built this puppy. Also my block and stroker kit came in. I'll be building and posting that soon. Stay tuned. I'm gonna try to optimize the converter to the best of my ability but its probably coming back off if I can get my speed back.
Look into changing the springs and weights in the driver. I was able to improve mine by doing so.

Well I got it all together today. With the stock converter no mater what I did this thing still won't rev. Went back to centrifugal clutch and even tho I went up to a 60 tooth rear sprocket this new engine 224cc will not exceed 6300 rpm still not sure why tho. I took a new coil off a hemi straight out of the box. So I know its not that. Maybe the brown box .275 cam is just done although it said 8k maximum range. I felt it would make power to 7k anyways!?

If it's valve float you will hear it, the exhaust note will change and get quieter. Did you check seat pressure or installed height of the valve spring?
I did not sir....I guess I will I got a micrometer somewhere just for it. They are 26lb springs and aluminum retainers from ec. I just installed and verified i had plenty of room with out coil bind. I don't think its float but with everything done to it and the head ported I feel it should rev out especially after adding 10 teeth to rear sprocket. It's odd.

Well changed jets to 40 pilot and 130 main pulls super hard but to me sounds like float still.......I took a video for you fellas I rolled in then pinned 6200 is all I seen and it almost sounds like rev limiter and won't pull any further. I've got to check the spring heights I suppose. Well I was gonna post the video but it said i don't have allowed extensions? Mod help please?

Maybe it is float then, if it sounds like float. It has a funny hum. (I don't think you posted a pic of the clearancing you did to the cam, btw.) But, maybe time to revisit math between the super thin caps, unique lifter lengths, and the 26lb springs?

When the vehicle is going as fast as the engine can push it, changing gear ratios usually will not increase speed. It just reaches the same speed at a different rpm.
I have proved this to myself A couple of times changing rear end gears in a 1/4 mile drag car. You are there, and just don't want to admit it.

This is true and indeed why I went 10 teeth larger on rear. I wanted to see if I would gain rpm but did not. it just get to the same rpm faster much faster now with more displacement and compression but still hangs around 61xx rpm. I am gonna figure this out just a matter of time fellas and thank you all for your input!

This may be the answer I been looking for fellas. The ghost head I'm running does indeed not have the exhaust side cut fir the bottom of the spring but a deep one on intake side. I did notice upon assembly but just thought it was was their for the valve seal. I suppose GPS noticed it too and sell a 26lb spring set that the intake valve is taller to account for it. My springs were the same height. So id say its soft on intake and I do indeed have float.
