Vevor diesel air heater opinions?

#1
I realize quite a few of you suffer through much lower temperatures than I do here in sunny North Carolina, but my detached shop out in the back lot gets really cold and I have projects that pile up in the winter. I keep seeing ads for these Vevor diesel heaters for like 85 bucks. The ad says 8KW, which converts to something above 27K Btu/hr. I have a couple of 10K Btu propane heaters in other buildings and they work well, but the buildings are smaller and I don't spend much time inside them. The propane tanks are inconvenient...load them up and go to town, 20 miles away and only during normal business hours.
We have a convenience store one mile away, open 24 hours. So, I'm thinking about one of these diesel heaters.
Anybody tried one? Please share your opinions. Thanks, Dave

If you were here I would give you the two that I have. Mine are the red ones that are battery reliant. Thats what drives the fan. Without the fan the unit will heat up to the point of ignition. I had a close call leaving it on overnight. So they are going in the scrap metal bin. I do have two of the Vevor little electric heaters and they work fine. They get my 22 x 36 shop warm enough to be able to work comfortably but not enough to paint. My shop is not insulated and has a crown vent the along the 36 foot length. I think if it was properly insulated they would keep the heat at 50%. The new diesel heater they have now plug in so they should be safer but you still have to vent outside.

This one has a flexible exhaust pipe and muffler that go outside and a little intake pipe for the burner that can go outside or stay inside.
I have a bank or 12 volt batteries in the shop hooked to solar and wind, so I doubt it will discharge them, but I do appreciate the opinion.
Did they put out good hot air?

About the same as the little electric heaters and of course they are cheaper to run.

My brother talked my into going in a a two for price....I think I paid 76 bucks shipped. It should be here anytime. My neighbor had one but he was trying to heat a 40x60 barn. I will try to heat a 12x14 shed/work area. Im going to make a shelf and put the exhaust out the overhang with the insulated wall kit. it does run on 120....so...we will see. and I agree with the battery power only....things go bad quick.

for what its worth....I have NEVER had a bad experience with Vevor I have there sonic cleaner....one is for records the other is for parts. I just got a concrete saw that does 6 inches, for less than to rent one. A small jack hammer ,a garden hose real....a few other things. Chinese junk I know...

The vintage ones glow red hot.. This picture does not even come close to accurately showing how hot these small boxes will truly glow.

The new electric space heaters got all safe and upity.

I know this post was more about heating the shop but it’s -7 and a two day power outage just ended… Running my house off gen power cooked our becket oil furnace.

No worries shut the draft and let the drum heat up and then kick the fan on.

There will be a wood stove in the garage come next year so I don’t have to run the torpedo heater.

A 1500 watt electric heater can only put out about 5100 BTu/hr. If I try to run two heaters at 1500 watts constantly, I would have a problem with air compressor and welder, so I need a heat source other than electrical resistance. This Vevor puts out about 27000 BTu/hr and only uses enough electricity to run the fan. I also have a few Vevor tools and have been very happy with them. I had a propane torpedo heater a couple years ago. It made me feel like I was in a gas chamber. I think it burned the oxygen from the air it was blowing through the open garage door. Gave that one away. I ordered a Vevor last night. Happy New Year to everyone!

Good input here.

So far I have good feelings about Vevor.

I bought a metal jerry can from Vevor this past June. It arrived fast, but had a dent in one of the bottom corners.

It still functions fine, but I contacted Vevor customer service anyway. They sent me a new one, and didn't request return of the defective one.

I plan to buy one of their Vevor hose reels for this spring.

Dave, let us know how your heater works out.

I have quite a few things from Vevor and I have no complaints and thier prices are great. My only problem was as mentioned and I may look into the new ones that plug in. I will wait to hear how Skippy's works. You are on the clock Mr.Skipp.

I have 2 natural gas stand alone heaters that I run in the shop. I opted for the plug in blower motor. They put out 30,000btu. They are Mr. Heater off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01DPZ56OG?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

I can't say anything bad about them whatsoever. Come with a T-stat/ electronic battery ignition and have worked very well for supplemental heat.
Haven't bought the boiler for the shop yet.
Might be an option here, but thinking we're trying to get away from propane and go diesel cuz it's a PIA to change out bottles etc.

I received my heater today. I thought I ordered it from Vevor. I know it was their website, but it was delivered by an Amazon van. It does look well made, which I expected. The directions are very...European, maybe? It does state to make sure it has a steady 12 volts at a minimum of 20 amps.
That would run a single battery down pretty fast. That means (basically) that a 200 amp/hr deep cycle battery could run the heater for 10 hours.
It also states not to charge the battery during use because the lower voltage could cause a malfunction. HUH?
That doesn't worry me too much, since I have 8x200ah batteries wired in parallel for roughly 1600ah.
My doctor told me to stay inside this morning because she seems to think I have a sinus infection and pneumonia, so I will probably wait til Wifey goes to work before I go out to the shop and mount this thing.
The 12 volt power wires are about 6 feet long, I estimate 12 gauge, and stripped and frazzled on the ends. There are no connectors on the wires, so be prepared with some connectors to crimp on.
