Vintage briggs and stratton external dimension 2hp vs 3hp

Since i dont have one here to measure i was curious if the outside overall height of a 3 hp vintage (say mid-late 60's) briggs and stratton motor (complete) is the same as a 2hp same era briggs. Is outside same or is 2 hp smaller or is it just internals that differ? If 2 hp is in fact smaller then what does it measure from bottom mount to top? Thanks guys

Hey,

I believe all 2HP and 3HP engines are identical in size. Things change when you get into the 4 to 5HP Briggs range, as very few parts interchange between, say a 2HP and a 5HP. Most parts on a 2HP will fit on a 3HP or visa versa. Ill have to get back on those measurements, where are you measuring to? The top of a head bolt? Spark Plug?

Just measured my 2HP and it was 275mm (10.8in.) from the bottom of the engine mount to the top of a headbolt. Hope this helps!

Yeah thats what i suspected, i have a 3 hp here and i got roughly 11" so im guessing externally the size is identical
