Visallia Friday Night Race

well put minidragbike, dan is a ridin sob and the way i see it if you want to hang with or even beat big dan then you got to step up and build a bike that can and if anyone complains there at a disadvantage cause of the bigger motor well get a bigger motor but you got to be able to ride it. Anyone can blast the straights but you got to be able to dig those corners. vette66, you didn't pull me down the straights by far but the corners i nailed you with my (320 lbs) mass lol. tires will help a lot cause yours are gone for shure and get the presssure rite as you found out lol. Minidragbike i hope you get a chance to come down to one of the races this year would like to meet you for shure and be the first la guy to step up and give it a shot i think you will get into it.
That's an idea, lets all put V-Twin Van Guards in our bikes and go for it.....

There were some 13hp powered big baja bikes racing in Visalia's Plaza Park friday night, that run like a scalded dog, but they got out rode by the big man Dan, he had no power advantage, he simply out rode them. there were two 6.5hp powered DB30s in close persuit.

I will try and be at the next race for sure! I need a new braking system for my DB though, my current rotor/disc is warrped and I basically have no brakes. Doing 50
+ mph with no brake is a bit scarry.

Someone will do it watch. But then the two piston deal will come in to play, just like gear boxes, starter boxes and suspensions. Well suspensions have not yet been an issue, but the other two have been. A buddy of mine was talking about bolting a 6.5 up in his kx60 chassis. Change nothing but the engine, full suspension. I told him to just put a 390 in it....lol.

race

Those things are not real mini bikes! the tires are as tall as my motorcycle tires!I mean at one next to a Taco?Bonanza or even the DB?THEY LOOK LIKE GIANTS! real mini bike racing should be 10" wheels max.I raced mini bikes in the late 1960,s early 70,s and besides the age groups and hp classifications that we just dont have the ENTRY #,s for?!they had 6"wheels and under class and the open (big mini bikes) had up to 10" which should be one rule at least! that was at SaddlebackPark,IndianDunes and most any mini bike race track weither it be MX,tt or Flat Track.when we start the vintage minibike racing out at PerrisRaceWay they already told me its real vintage looking minibikes with 10"max and maybe only flat heads, we might be able to get a ohv class???.but just in case you better get those flat heads working!

rodney , when you say 10" max do you mean rim size ? or over all wheel diameter ? cuz the bajas have 8" rims with fat tires. and most 6' wheels are over 10" in daimeter with the tire,as is.

Hey Wyody,
I'm with you,but your wasting your time trying to tell them what a REAL MINIBIKE is. If they consider Dan's bike a minibike, just do like I do,consider not going. Put Dan on a real minibike and i know he won't do as good as he does, he's to big !( To tall, his knees will hit the handlebars)

Man, that thing is bad as hell lookin'. Did you change the rake? Dan still beats you?! How bad is his stuff? WOW.
The rake is about the only thing I left alone. Dan rides very aggressive and allways pushes the limit, I think if he was on a "real mini bike" (bonanza Taco) the out come of the race would not change. any one who thinks otherwise should challange him. My mini pulls very hard but never push my limits around the turns.( a sign of my age)

MiniDragBike said, "If Dan is the man, then building something similar, but maybe with more power? Or better tires? Or better suspension? It's just that simple."

A lot of us older guys had minibikes all thru the sixties, I sure did! For all the same reasons I am reading in this thread, we wanted "more power, better tires, better suspension! It was just that simple"

So we got them and by 1974 the minibike thing was over!! Now, in 2010, it is happening again!

There needs to be a 200cc "lawnmower engine" limit!

If not, then why not get a speedway racing Jawa 250 c.c. motor, 4 valve, alcohol, 14:1 compression ratio. It puts out around 45 H.P. It would take some work to modify it so it would work with a centrifigal clutch but it is sure doable!!

So, keep pushing the limit with no rules and soon we can all sell our minibikes and get some real 2 wheel racing motorcycles!!

10" rim I'm assuming. I would think it's the ATC type of balloon tire in question ?
