looks great!!!!!! how is the hydraulic brake? worth the money?
nice bike
I was just about to post an update! The hydraulic brake is definitely worth it. Just a couple things you have to keep in mind. The stock doodlebug brake pads that come with the hydraulic brake are not sufficient for repeated full speed stops with a predator motor. I've been testing out the "high performance" pads that hotrodminibike.com sells and I've gone a good 2 days of riding without significant wear, definitely recommend those pads. I would recommend the hydraulic brake, just keep an eye on it.

Other than the pads, everything else is running great. I replaced the sparkplug with the autolite sparkplug and it idles even smoother, love it! My buddy got jealous of how awesome my bike is and bought one too!

He's got a bit of work to do to keep up with me!

Also, here is a picture of my throttle assembly, the cable isn't routed in this pic, but you can see where the cable goes. I got the hardware with the motor swap kit I ordered.

And let the "How much expendable income can I blow on this engine to beat my friend" posts begin!!

Haha, unfortunately for him he's gotta play catch up, he is still just running the boat anchor 97cc. I have a pretty huge weight advantage over him as well, I won't be worried for awhile!

Cool Dealio ! Make a spring loaded chain tensioner and no worries
Best thing I ever did on my DBs, on one my chain was so stretched I could pull it off the sprocket a half inch but I never threw it with the constant varying pressure the spring loaded tensioner provided.

Looks good! :thumbsup:I bet it hauls ass! I forgot about the phone speedo thing. I am gonna steal my wife's I-phone and try that out.

Alright, it's been a couple days, time to put in an update. The motor is running great, I'm still playing with the fuel choke to find that perfect setting, I'm running the .39" carb jet, it doesn't idle very smooth with the fuel choke all the way off and will stall out when I come off full throttle, so far I've been needing to keep the fuel choke about 2/3 of the way on. The hydraulic brake is awesome, HOWEVER, keep an eye on the pads!!! The stock doodlebug pads are inadequate for multiple stops of over 35+ mph. After about 2 hrs of use my first set of pads were done, I was starting to run up against the caliper. This second set has about 6 stops on them and are already halfway done. I ordered the high performance pads so we'll see how they respond. Other than that, I've been consistently hitting about 37-42 mph, according to my phone app speedometer. This swap really gave a whole new life to the bike! I love it!
You need to enlarge the main jet since you put the K&N style filter on and it is much less restrictive than the stock one and now rather than choking the engine you need to richen up the main jet for more Vroom
I used super floss and polishing compound and I Hogged out my air box filter and richened up the jetting on mine up a bit and it made a noticible difference in aceleration over the stock jetting.

nice bike! you got 37-42mph with the governor on? how long of a run did you have to reach top speed? i have the same set up and mine only went 27mph. i'm 250 lbs and i don't have a header yet.
but i still have a few tricks up my sleeve

Well, just a couple minor updates. I ordered the street tire kit on hotrodminibikes.com since most of my driving is done on paved surfaces and the knobby tires were not confidence inspiring. Also started playing around with gear ratios, Bought the split sprocket adapter and 64 tooth split sprocket. I really enjoy how it drives with these small additions. I'll play around with going smaller on the rear sprocket, probably a 60 tooth, in the near future. Also, the governor is getting annoying.......Anyways, here's a couple pics:

Yup, she has a nice little battle scrape :censure: got to respect the power of these little bikes!

Eh, I'm a bad judge of distance but I'd say a couple hundred feet. I am a bit lighter than you, 160 lbs, and honestly I take the phone speedometer app with a grain of salt. I never ran two consistent top speeds in my trials, I know there's always a few variables, road surface, wind, etc., but my lowest I recorded was 37 and the top I recorded was 42.

Hey JD, are those new tires the same size ? The back looks wider than the front. Or is it just my eyes ? :cursing:
No, your eyes do not deceive you. The front wheel is an 8" wheel, tire specs are 130/50-8, rear wheel is still the stock doodlebug 6" with tire specs 13x6.5-6. And thanks for the comments guys, it's funny to think that this bike sat in my garage for 3 years until I stumbled across this forum and finally did something with it. I feel like I've missed out on a lot of fun I could have had over the past 3 years!
