The tecumseh you were looking at is part of a family that has 3 horsepower varients I know of. the ohh50 5hp is the small displacement version 149cc I think and the ohh55 5.5hp and the ohh65 are both 196cc I think. possible mods include installing a billet rod from arc racing sourcing a metal cam out of a tecumseh hs50 5hp flathead send to dyno cams for a better grind (more power). replace valve springs with some aftermarket predator 24lbs valve springs from dyno cams and find the h50 racing motor hot coil (it advances timming, hard to find) and get a header from roberts torque tubes . you can port the intake and exhaust and if you can figure it out fab up a better intake and slap a 22mm slide throttle carb on that motor. and at the end of the day you will have a very fast motor but still get outrun by similarly modded a predator. The heads on this motor have tiny valves and restrictive intake paths I've been pondering how to fix that for quite some time. also the 5.5 and 6.5 could make good motors but the small displacement of the 5hp woulden't even be close to the power of the predator.
