What kind of nut is this?

This nut came off of a bendix brake. It was tack welded onto the backside and allowed a bolt to screw into it.

I'd like to do the same thing only using new ones in new spots.

Anyone know?

They were made specifically to pilot in a hole and be welded.

You could make your own by getting an "extended" nut from the hardware and doing some lathe work. Probably get 2-3 from each long nut. The long nuts are the ones they sell to connect 2 pieces of ready thread together.

Ask for a hex projection weld nut in the size thread you need. They are welded in place using electrical current to melt three or four projections on the nut. You might need to mig the nut in place
