Wheel bead with heavy pitting

#1

My wheel has some pitting in the bead. I've been thinking about brazing it. I've also read about bead sealer. Any suggestions? Thanks and happy new year.

I really didn't want to use and inner tube (I don't know why), but it would be the easiest way.

Stangrcr1, what is your secret for JB weld? I can never get the stuff to stick right.

All pretty good ideas here, I would not braze. The heat will weaken the steel and cracking may take place.

I would use Fiberglass body filler, sand and paint. JB Weld is also a good idea.

When running a mini bike....it is always good to have tubes. After fighting with my daughters kart time after time from taking it off road and popping the beads...I installed tubes and never had another issue. Just my personal preference for safety.

A sandblasted surface is great for JB Weld to stick to, or at least as rough as you can get it. Then wipe it with Acetone to make sure it is clean. Allow to dry and apply the JB Weld.

And tubes are good insurance.
