I have a 5 hp briggs that has a 20 mm slide carb on it that I am running on my firehawk with a tav2. I also have the 6 hp Mitsubishi ohv that came with the firehawk which is the same a the 6 hp vanguard but have been waiting for parts (new pushrods , and rocker adjusters) that are being special ordered by a lawnmower site but has taken a month so far and the date keeps getting pushed back. Which one has more low end power the 206 cc 5 hp briggs with a straight pipe or the 182cc 6 hp Mitsubishi with a jetted carb ,sanded down head ,advanced timing and header. I may just cancel the order and stick with the briggs depending on what you guys say thanks for the replies

Thanks for the reply . I think ur right I am getting the parts to fix the 182 tomorrow. But I am also considering selling the Mitsubishi and getting a 7 hp predator. My doodlebug with a predator and clutch smokes my firehawk even with my lighter friend and a big head start

Yes in stock form the predator will definitely smoke the 5hp Briggs. Now with that being said in modified form the tables can and will turn. I have a built 5hp that smokes a predator that my cousin built. Now I have some $$$$ in the Briggs but it can be done and sounds WAY better than any ohv. But if your keeping it stock then go for the predator. Check out my raptor build thread on here for the Briggs.

Well I swapped in the 6 hp Mitsubishi the parts they were all briggs parts and made in Japan. The motor runs great and has a lot more torque than the 5 hp briggs. Parts came at a good time right before the briggs started crapping out and stopped working. I liked the sound of the briggs too and it started good and ran well for a while. I may keep it and rebuild it later since it was shooting blue smoke when given a lot of throttle.
