I have a fox banshee with briggs 3 hp flathead motor. I give it a slight push then twist the throttle and it goes. I weigh 220 lbs. Am I ok, I don't want to kill the clutch. I heard it's ok for me to roll it initially to overcome inertia. I was thinking of getting a briggs 5 hp flathead but not sure if I want to go through all that. My gear ratio is approx 8-72.

Yeah, I'm still puttering around on a BC-1100 w/ a 2.5hp and my 240lbs of USDA Prime Man, lol. Same thing, I just give a push-off or two so I don't load the little engine or clutch too much. Damn mini will rattle my teeth bad until it gets up to speed if I don't.

Your post reminded me I need to go to storage and swap it for a 5hp mini or a Predator equipped I have for my summer rider.

Now, rather than respond here (in his own thread), this guy is DM'ing me about how much I weigh, asking me directly for personal identifying information.

Scammer.

Why is this an issue. You run a 3 hp motor and seem happy with it. Doesn't ones weight make a difference. Innocent question with no mal intent. No scammer here. Can't assume the worst from people. I'm trying to learn.

Count your teeth (on the bike, not your mouth). Don’t just guess, get a Sharpie marker and put a dot on the tooth you start counting on. The numbers matter, a lot. Then you can plug your numbers into a speed calculator:

https://www.gokartguide.com/gear-ratio-chart-speed-calculator/

Says it’s go kart but it works for minibikes as well.

8 and 72 nets a horrible 9:1 gear ratio. Top speed at 3600 revs is dismal if all this is true.
