without turning this thread into an argument I've been running this engine without the governor for a lil over a year now with the stock rod and I'm not even careful. I rev the hell out of it all the time with no probs. on another note though I do know that buying performance parts would really...
I was wondering after hours of searching and not coming up with anything what are some mods you can do at home to a 5hp flathead without buying parts? I already am running a straight pipe, no gov, no low oil sensor, shaved the "eyebrows". besides raising the C/R what other mods are there to do...
I might have to make a trip to the auto parts store and see what I can come up with because that tip would almost be perfect with the muffler I have now. I just wish I hadn't stripped my exhaust bolt holes, because its spring break here and my auto shop teacher has a helicoil kit.
I dont know my numbers off the top of my head but I have had the PTO side cover off when I was removing my gov. and oil sensor, and it had a bearing on the flywheel side and the PTO side.
how about this, does anyone have a staged header? if you do can you give me the specs like how long it is, how long is the first stage from the flange to the weld, how long is the 2nd stage, and if it applies any more stages you have, the diameter of the stages, etc.
I'm looking to make my own...
as the title states I have been looking for a while online for some performance parts for my briggs 5 hp flathead. I'm talking like air filters, headers, muffs, carbs, timing advance keys... thanks.
I know greasing it is bad, just to let you know I am not recommending it I am just saying I did it and it smoothed out the accel on my go kart I realize that it is probably super bad for clutch life, but mine had almost seen it anyways so me and my friend were just screwing around. and believe...
it is probably the clutch, the old clutch on my go kart did that, what I did (completely not recommended) is I greased the drum. I know how bad that sounds but what it did was make the engine rev really high before it started moving forward granted that engine is ungoverned I don't know what...
I ran to ace hardware the other day and picked up one of the generic thread in replacement "sausage" mufflers and took the exhaust tips off my old stock Honda accord muffler and I am probably gonna go buy another muffler from ace because the tips fit perfectly and look awesome. now I just gotta...
In the world of Honda's header wrap is a hot performance mod. people wrap their header and down pipe to reduce under hood temp and keep exhaust velocity up by keeping it hotter, some people do also claim that it improves header life but I don't think so. I think it is just a matter of looks on a...
