5 hp from snowblower

#1
I just picked up a 5hp Tecumseh to upgrade my son's minibike. I've got a few questions:

Its got the plug-in electric starter thingy on it. Should this be removed for a minibike?

Its got the pulleys on the shaft. How hard or easy are they to take off?

Should I install the clutch from the old engine (if it fits) or get a new one?

If the engine mounting holes don't line up, should I just drill new ones?

Any input is appreciated.

You can remove the pulleys from the engine with a pulley puller if there are stuck on the shaft. First you have to loosen the set screws on the pulleys before pulling it off. Also spray a penetration lube on the shaft that helps too.
If your clutch is good and fits use it.
You can leave the electric start on the engine or remove it if you do not want it. If it fits in to your bike frame you can have electric start. There a few guys that left it on there bikes, Most are 110 volt so you could use it to get started in the garage before you go out and ride it. There are some that are 12 volt.
Your engine should fit in the original holes unless you are doing this to a Doodlebug. If so you will need to drill new holes and get a new clutch to fit a 3/4 crankshaft.
