So I picked this up a couple weeks ago against my better judgement. I posted it in the "what is it" section and Simple Tom was quick to answer.this thing was all seized up, missing a few key parts, and needed some of the tubing replaced from rot. You can just see a bit of yellow paint and black pinstripping here and there

One week later I found its twin in much better shape

I know nothing about snowmobile engines. I looked it up and it's a 338

We did manage to fire it up before taking the bike apart

Did you take it for a trip around before dismantling?? Amazing how many manufactured bikes trikes and such is out there that some of us never had a clue existed Granted some didn't catch on other than a regional sort of thing but man is that cool!!!

No. The pipes were rotted right through at the block and the fuel tank was nasty. I just wanted to confirm the motor was ok before pulling the bike apart

Cool, CESTAD sold them and also made trikes for Montgomery Wards. :thumbsup:

Wow. Mine was $799 new in (I'm guessing) the early 70's.
