engine problems- excessive smoke

#1

This is an engine I recently completed a cosmetic restoration on with intentions of using it on my Manco Chopper project.

Once I got it running again (never ran it before restoration).. this bitch smokes like a freight train... let it run for about 15 minute to burn out any residual oil in the cylinder.. still no go, smokes big time.

My assumption is that it needs rings, but is there anything else that could cause the excess smoke? Valves, seats, stems?:confused:

Any input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

For now I just set it aside and have built up another 3.5 Tec, but I've got so much time and effort in this one, I hate to just give up on it.

Anybody?

Could just a set of rings solve this problem?

Oh yeah, engine seemed to have a lot of blow by coming from the valve cover too..

most likely either a leaking head gasket or the cyl has a score in it, possibly the rings are stuck ,have to tear apart to find the problem check those things.:scooter:
