323rd day of 1976

Look at the serial number. The first digit of the serial is the last digit of the year. That's a square shroud, so it has to be 1974-1980s, but in 1985, the raised portion of the shroud where the recoil attaches was done away with, so it can't be 1986.

The next 3 digits indicate the day of the year it was made.

Really nice engine you've got there. Great find indeed

HS50's in those small bikes are fun. I retrofitted a stock '77 HS50 snowblower shortblock with Earlier round shroud 4hp parts and put it on a lil indian......it got you up to speed very quickly. Little tires really limited it though.

I want to do pretty much the same style. That's why I changed tanks. I only have this metal tank but it works. I am going to be patient when it comes to what color I want to do the bike in. Maby a green with a glitter flake with white accents.
