Tec starter problem

Hey all . I have a Tecumseh HM80 and I put a 12v starter on it and now ,while trying to start/tune ,I can see it is chewing up the rubber part (in red). Like it's coming out too far. Or should there be something for the nose part (circled in blue) to stop it??

If it's a chinese one I would check and see if the armature is straight, quality can very a lot. An original one made in the U.S.A., lubricate the starter gear and some spray silicone on the the armature shaft. Also make sure the mounting bolt are tight.

All checked. OK. It's like there is no "stop".
