This is on a Murray bike that I purchased up at Phil's event. It wouldn't run at all no matter what I tried: cleaned carb, fresh fuel and a new plug. So I left it alone and took it home with me. I started by cleaning the magnet and flywheel, both had surface rust from sitting. I also pulled the head and saw that the gasket failed in one corner. The I decided to take off about ten thousands off the head just to try it. Installed a new head gasket, plug and also a carb for a HS40 or 50. It took a few pulls to get going and some dialing in on the carb to get it right and now it starts on the first or second pull. Re-torqued the head and carb to the manifold. I took it out on the trails that have some really steep hills and it climbed them without a problem and kept pulling! I guess I need to build another one like Markus did recently and try to see if I can get a little more power. Not sure if the rear exit vs the side exhaust makes a difference in flow or power.
