you can get an electronic chip from a auto parts store to replace the points and condenser. The wire from the coil goes to the chip. They cost about $15 and work pretty good. I got mine at Carquest and it was called an 'Atom'. Look in thier briggs parts catalog.
I've used the ATOM kit on both Tecumseh and Briggs. They run great at speed but seem to be hit or miss when it comes to idling, (won't idle @ low rpms). Have you had the same experience?
