And then there were NINE

Found this for $50 and the guy said he'd give me an engine if I came right away. Bwahahaha! Like I wouldn't? He said it was a "heathkit" but when I asked him if it was big or small , he didn't know but as soon as he gave me the size of the tires,,,, I told him I would be right there.

The Bike (model GT-10) is one I've wanted for awhile now ( BIG & a classic) Theres tags under the seat and one says "do not remove" like a mattress. ;D The other say "Heath" GT-10" (the model) and also has ser#. Theres also a ser# tag on the frame under by the seat.

The paint is original and the rust is just surface rust (nothing deep and no dents on the fenders)so it should blast up nicely. I think the headlight is original also as well as the rims and maybe the tires. The tires are in great shape with no cracking and lots of tread. The frame is all straight except font the foot pegs (easy fit) The wheels spin great and are straight and theres brake pads inside the sprocket and they work but it's missing the lever on the outside.

I'm very pleased with todays catch.

The engine is really cool, it's an old Clinton with a oil air cleaner. It also runs but needs something to keep the shaft from side play (I think it's a clip for the pulley) It has a lever to change/move the belts/speeds.

The jack shaft has two gears on the drive side side.

ANY info on these bad boy mini's would be a great help. Thanks, GTO

GTO,

You suck!!! Nice score.

I hate when CL ads don't say what they want $$$wise. I guess if I have to ask, I can't convince the wife I've had it for a while.

Well, after looking around, I guess the headlight ain't a stock one.

Jeff, I also hate when the don't show pic's and can't tell you anything.

Josh, thanks for that link! I need to figure out how the high low gear works. I saw that Hent also has/had a boonie and had a pic of the shafts and I guess he put a clutch on.

Jim, 8-12 HP Biggs or Tec would be great and I'm looking.

This is a neat bike, I love the size and it will probably be my favorite when it's restored, the bummer is winder is coming and I want to blast and paint it NOW. :doah:

If you get the chance, please post some pics of that 2-speed trans disassembled. I'd like to see how they did that-engage one sprocket while letting the other free wheel. I presume it isn't a shift-on-the-fly set up; more like a high/low range.

The 2-speed jackshaft is really simple. In low gear the cable hold the tab back on the jackshaft so low range if engaged, this low range gear is mounted on a one way bearing. Then when high gear is engaged the cable move out of the way and lets the high gear release and engage. This is were the one way bearing comes into play.
