As you know, or not, a I'm from Germany but I have to answer...I think Chicago is one of the best cities in the us I have visited! Been there several times and I have to say I really like it. The town, the people, everything is a little bit different but really cool except of Gary!! Especially the clubs :thumbup:

But I really felt safe in Chicago. Even at night and drunk.
And you can fall asleep in Merrillville

I actually live a 1/2 hour drive north of the city, when I mention the area or town where I live people are like huh? so I always say Chicago, however, I have family in buck town, Lake View and the gold coast, and I work in the loop one or two days a week.

The medical district off the Eisenhower - west, south and south west are the areas I avoid.

Germany is absolutely beautiful, been to Augsburg, Berlin and other towns. I know Kenosha Wisconsin well...it's amazing what they have done with the lakefront and the once defunct downtown areas / Post AMC shut down.
