Anyone ever hit the "ton" on a mini bike?

#42
Yes i have done more then ask for stickers. I have 6 mini bikes in my garage. I also drag race a tubbed out 1969 bbc nova and also have a tubbed prostreet s10 and a 68 barracuda fastback. So whats your point dude? You fliped out on someone for no reason. Atleast when i talk or ask question's i have respect for others.:asshole:
any pics of said s-10?

As far as the "has anyone done the Ton" question, I have to answer that question with a question. Why would you want to? It's a recipe for a trip to the emergency room! (or worse) Any Sane person knows, that going that fast on a bike with six inch wheels and a thirty six inch wheel base is not Sane! (which is probably why the SCTA wont let you do it on Bonneville during an SCTA sanctioned event) but then, there are drag strips that will!

while i completely agree with you neck, I would still go out and do it just to say I did, with proper riding techniques, safety gear, and some modifications to the bike, any thing could be done within the realm of safety

ive done 81 in the quarter mile on a rupp tt500 with 6 inch rims front and back... it was awesome. doing 100 though would need a serious frame though cause even in the quarter thats gonna be some wheel standing acceleration!

What gearing and at what RPM did you see 81mph in the 1/4 miles with 6" tires? The reason I ask is because it's possible but we get many claims of top speed that are impossible with the setup the claimant describes. I have a 45+mph DB but 45 is sketchy on the small tires, there have been drag minis that approach those speeds so I'm not doubting you. I'd just like to know what it takes to get there.

He actually is talking about my bike.. he said 6inch rims. it had 13inch tall tires 3.8 gear ratio. Mid to high 8k. He's hit 83 on it. I'm 10 lbs Heavier and hit 79/80mph . Gps and a radar gun said so.lol.

I don't ever outright doubt a claim so no need to go on the defensive, that's why I asked about the setup and didn't call BS. It's absolutely do-able on 6 inch rims with proper gearing and enough RPMs but you have to have heard some BS top speed claims as have I.

I have some 530 450 6" tires on Azusalite wheels that are as tall as some 8" tires and will be putting them on a Trailhorse with Predator power through a jackshaft. I may hit 50 or so with a governed engine but I run a cheater spring so I push 5000rpms, if I want to sacrifice take off I could go faster but 50 is enough for an old man who has broken his neck once already. I've hit as high as 51 on my DB with 12/66 gearing behind a 5.5 intec ungoverned with regrind cam and 18# springs spinning 6000rpms and it was as fast as I'll ever go again on it. We use a Bushnell sport radar gun to clock ours and it seens accurate. You guys are crazy out there!

yeah . It's hard to go past your limit once you mess your self up once. I broke my ARM pretty bad on my rupp. Still on it tho but it is one thing I don't like to think about when riding.
There's guys out here really flying . I think fastest on a gun out here was 97 mph on a Jr. Dragster motor in a stretched out joes frame .

I watch the drag race threads and am amazed at how fast some of those bikes go, just like any sport someone will break a hundred eventually then it will be a regular thing. I will watch and see but you guys be careful! And wear helmets boots and jackets please! My limit was breaking my neck road racing at 125mph on a Race prepped FZR600 on track day in full leathers helmet etc. I was hit by a riderless bike that had wadded up behind me and sent into a bad tumble. I had been down at that speed and destroyed bikes but mostly slid and slammed into hay bails and a few tires but never tumbled. Only takes one.:doah: On Ana Street those guys wear short pants and I wont lie I ride mine in shorts with no helmet around the neighborhood and one day may get some wicked road rash or worse so do as I say and not as I do.:sailor:
