Yes..it was a prison break and it came with costs. Blood blister from the channel locks slipping. Grouchy dad when the kids came into the garage to play and aching arm muscles from the endless back and forth of the file. Also, I used a good file on it, but also bought some Harbor Freight files..which are really crap! The HF files would never have chewed the metal away.:hammer:

Wow I know know your pain. I did a similar thing with the hub bearings not as bad as what you had though. At first I tried breaking the bearing raceway that was stuck in the hub breaking tons of small screwdrivers in the process. But then I went at it with a rotary tool and cutoff wheel finally switching to a small sharpening bit. It took hours to do it carefully as to not ruin the hub.
