It has been a year or so since I took this 5 hp flathead apart. Somehow the exhaust spring and rotater ended up mixed with parts from another engine. This is the only combination that looks like it could work but the exhaust spring is quite a bit stiffer than the intake spring. .085 wire diameter versus .105 for the exhaust. Add to that it would naturally be stiffer by being shorter. I'm fairly certain those are the original intake valve components and the original exhaust valve. They were with the rest of the original parts but the short stiff spring and rotater were with other parts.
Did the 5 hp flathead with cast iron bore and two ball bearing crank come with a valve train set up that looks like my picture?
