I have Briggs 3 hp engine that I'm going to bring life back to. The shroud shows the number as--
81302 0172 01 640908_
That seems to tell me it's a flo-jet, plain bearing, recoil and was manufactured September 8, 1964. It's a points engine and it has the bracket mount for the flo-jet, though it's got a vacu-jet on it.
Correct Briggs gurus?
I ask because this link says serial # standardization didn't start until 1965:
