Customer dropped a motorsports with a dell and lighting alternator on it for me to do a quick checkup and do a full backdated style paint job tor a rupp.
it’s new, only ran for break in, and was no really planning to pull it down more than remove a few parts for bodywork and CB paint prep.
pulled the carb/intake and header off and yanked the breather cover to strip and noticed the retainer was not sitting right!
so “off with its head” so I could inspect for damage and reset.
I went ahead and pulled both valves, no damage I could see on the stems or retainers so that was good but I was not impressed with the seating of the valves particularly the exhaust seat to valve face and how high up it sat so I carefully sealed up what I could and recut to a multi angle cut for a better fit and measurements.
This is the initial settings:
After playing with the cutters a bit and checking seat widths:
guess I better pull the sidecover as well and check the torque on the rod sidecover etc..
Should be a nice looker, just caved and paved over the numbers that were stamped on the older style shroud and have the first coat of primer to block out
