Being an Amateur Radio Operator (KI5NBN), I was just wondering if anyone here has set up an HF or VHF/UHF radio on their mini bike?
I'm sure some will be using their HT's on GMRS or perhaps 2 Meters / 440? If you have, what antenna did you use? Did you use the mini bike frame as part of the counter-poise? Did it work for low SWR?
Or did you pack a rig on your mini to set up at a good RF location? One of my minis will carry 500 pounds of equipment and my butt out into the boonies.
I'm thinking of setting up an end-fed or dipole antenna for POTA (Parks-On-The-Air) contacts. I "should" be able to climb using my mini-bikes up to the summit of the mountains near my QTH. Or perhaps a SOTA ( Summits-On-The-Air) just for giggles.
