HS40 Issue's

#1
I have a nice little Tecumseh HS40 I found at the junkyard for $5. I put my rebuilt float type tecumseh carb on the engine but it will not rev up, just stalls. So I put my other rebuilt tecumseh diaphram style carb on and it does the same, both carb's adjusting mixture does not help, it just starts and idles perfect and that's it. The engine has GREAT compression and does not smoke, changing the spark plug does not help.

Could this be a spark related problem? I have the rupp flywheel on it if that makes a difference? I didnt change out the coil.

Also I have 2 other HS40 engines and I tested both carbs on 1 of them and they work great, I just have issue's with this one engine.

you might want to look at the points and cond, and also make sure there is not a wire grounding out?

It was the spark plug :hammer: I tried 2 other one's but still did it, then put a new one in and it runs great now. Tecumseh engine's must be pickier about plugs than a briggs.
