Can anyone tell me if the aftermarket kickstarts fit on a 5hp flathead Briggs?

No..but they had these nifty shrouds. Some of the really really old washing machines by Maytag had them on the clutch side of crank. Pic below...just grabbed a random one.

There were some kick starters made for tecumseh engines. They can be picked up on eBay but be prepared to pay an arm and a leg.

Also one of the members has a working kick starter concept.
