Looking for a Carburetor

I was wondering if there is a carburetor that has a 1" (or close) throttle bore and Hi & Low mixture needles. I'm talking about a carburetor from an HM80 or HM100, but made from Oregon or Rotary. If you know the part numbers, that would help.

Hey 5 horse i bought the oregon carb the is for the hm 100 it is smaller than the org . My stock carb is 26mm the oregon is 23 mm . I put the oregon on it and it runs alright but once the adjustable gets rebuilt its going back on .

Thanks for the heads up !!!

What I do know is connecting rod failure is common in an HM100 so the smaller bore could be a revision.

have always had bad luck with used carbs.

For what it's worth the Ruppster's carb was originally taken off of a Tecumseh HM80 and was running REAL nice on our HM100 (where it bolted/aligned right up as well) .:wink:

have always had bad luck with used carbs.
If you can get one ya know is good, then ALWAYS!!! go for the original.. The Oregons run good, but some don't like to start the best.. A LOT OF THEM come BRAND NEW with pieces missing, they just expect you to supply and instal your own perfect pieces.. :doah:

That carb of his looks good.. It's usually the ones left outside for 50 years or the tot totally worn out ones that give you problems..

If his carb is a known good one, buy that.. Scrap the intake for 70 cents in clean aluminum..

The starting issue is correct . And if you buy the used carb do not scrap the intake . It is the same piece I used to make my custom intake manifold . Cut off both flanges and a piece out of the middle tig it back together and sweet custom manifold .

Well, there are a lot of factors when choosing a carburetor.

I'm surprised no one has Tecumseh carburetor specs stashed away.
I did notice there is a variety of carburetors for the HM series engines.

What I really want to know now is if a tecumseh carburetor with a fixed jet bowl nut can be swapped out for an adjustable mixture bowl nut?

I would get an adjustable carb from the start... The adjustable and fixed jets have alot of differences.

The fixed jet carbs run crappy and it's not easy to adjust them to run great as you can with the adjustable carb.

If I were you I would buy Ruppsters carb in a heartbeat and avoid the hassle of having to deal with the newer CARB compliant Tecumseh carbs.
