When you pay at a vendors site with Paypal the vendor gets the money through Paypal.
You tie your bank account, credit/debit card #'s to Paypal.
They are the only ones who have that info.
You don't need to put your financial info in at the vendor, you choose Paypal at checkout and you are transferred to the Paypal site where you enter your password and username then approve the transaction. Then back to the vendor to complete the order.
Your financial info is never given to the vendor, it stays in one place, Paypal.
You can also send money to others.
Use common sense.
Make sure the vendor is legit.
Always look for HTTPS in the address line when doing financial transactions online.
I recommend a good quality anti virus/internet security program and keep it updated.
