My Semi-Custom Build

#1
Well i got an old frame from a buddy of mine for 50 bucks, which also came with a 5 horse briggs. The briggs is pretty bad im not sure if i will use it, it seems to have seen its days. Anyway, its been sitting in my shed for 2 months or so, and ith summer here i decided to start the build. Sorry to all you restores out there, i respect the people who can restore a bike to its original condition, but thats just not me. I like to make things that i think look good to me, and i also like things that flow with smooth lines. like zipsters build, which very much inspired me. Back to the plans, i trashed the handle bars because they were bent and didnt fit the look i was going for, i welded up some loner forks to give the bike a more streamline look. I cut the back seat holder off because im going to build a spring seat that floats off the back rails if any one understands that. and once i get the way i like then i will get it sandblasted (hopefully) and painted.
Now to the questions. Im not to familiar with jackshaft gearing. the bike came with a 40t sprocket and 10t that powers the sprocket. i wsnt sure what i tooth gear i should use on the clutch side. i have a 12 tooth clutch. i want it geared a little toward the high end but not to much. i just dont like to flip on my back on take off. but i like to get off the line.
Next i would like some suggestions on engines. i want something with some power that i can upgrade as i go, but i dont really want a clone, no offence to people with clone im not a poacher, i just believe in american products since i have alot of family in the local truck plant i would like to contribute to our economy, or lack of one. but hypocritically i was thinking of a genuine honda, but i would like to hear you opinions. if any chance i would like it to be an engine on the current market.

I agree with buy American but the "genuine" Hondas are made over seas too so if you buy a chinese clone or a honda they both come from the far east so dollar to dollar buy a clone or look for a vintage Tec or Briggs if you wanna keep it American.....
