Oversize exhaust valve--Tecumseh

#21
I will recheck the spark... I heard somewhere that the coil should be strong enough to jump across a 1/4" gap, is this true? I do have a couple of spark testing tools and will see what I can come up with. Also put a brand new carburetor on the engine, and all the aforementioned hard-starting symptoms are with the carb set at factory manual-mandated presets.

Ryan if you have point ignition you will NEVER get spark to jump 1/4"

are the points quality brand? are they gapped proper?

if you need a hand for valves, valve seat cutting and guild repair......shoot me an email....all simple things to do when properly equipped in the tool dept.

the exhaust valve stem is a few thousands smaller than intake stem...the exhaust stem to guilde clearance is run looser than intake due to thermal expansion.
The only true way to know if your clearance is excessive is to mic the guide and valve stem.
I can help you get it fixed up properly.
email if I can help

This may be helpful...please note that H35 engine specs differ between the three variations of this engine...1982 and earlier...1983 model...1984 and later...specs for all three are included.
