Hey Brent,

First of all, thanks for registering for the forum.

There are a few different variables if the bike is going to be trail worthy or not. If the 4HP engine is pretty strong, then you have a decent chance. If it has a centrifigul clutch, it's not going to be that great, going up hills.. if it has a torq-a-verter setup (you can read about these on the main page of this site) then the hills shouldnt be a problem as long as everything is running and adjusted properly.

Let me know if that helped :)

Yes thanks, its just a centrifigul clutch attacked to a chain. But will it put the engine through to much laber and beat it up?

If you plan on taking it up hills, yes, you'll probably beat on the clutch because they don't do too well on hills, and labor intensive things like that. They should really be wide open most of the time.

my sears bike has a 4 hp tecumseh on it. she runs good up small hills on the trails..even with just the centrifical clutch....the motor can handle it ok. now for long steep grades..its probably not recommended youll kill the clutch...i tried to post this last week but after i sent it ...my post disappeared..hope it works this time........
