recoil screwed? pic for u to look at, help a new guy out

check this pic out, shouldnt the lil clip be attached to the outer area, and not loose?

this is for my clinton 3.5hp, ripped a cord off twice and i saw this when i went to replace it

its been a long time since ive seen one of those, so i aint sure, but i think that pin is supposed to be in the slot with a e-clip on it or somethin.

The only thing I ever had from a Clinton was a gas tank.

What you should do is take it to your local lawnmower shop and they can fix it for you. Sorry I couldn't provide more help.

i wonder what a small engine shop would charge to get her runnin and everything ok again.. if the pull start worked i could tune it up

Yeah, even I go to lawn mower shops sometimes to get stuff fixed. I had the recoil spring come loose on me about 3 weeks ago. I had so much trouble putting it back together I just dropped it off and let them do it. It cost me $8, but it was worth it.

Thats totally different from the ones I've done (brigs and Tec) Take it in then try the tune up yourself.

I used to work on ones simular to that can we see a picture of the flywheel?
the ones I used to work on had fly weight enguagment paws on the fly wheel and once the engine started they moved outward and they could not re enguage with the recoil pulley until the engine stopped
