Relay for life event (meet)

#1
There is a relay for life( American cancer society) event in Bonham Tx. Just north of Dallas. At the end of March.
We have some sponsorship for a mini bike meet.

There is a lot of cooperation with the community,VA,police....Etc
We have been given a large parking lot area to display the bikes,,, also there will be food and lots of other activities as well as the cancer survivors and relay walkers.

We can have trophies and I will talk to the police about a mini bike run to the town square and back to the event stadium; about 5 mile round trip or so.
We could park at the town square and have donation buckets next to each bike. People would place money in the bucket of their favorite bikes; most money collected will win the one of the trophies!

Any interest ? How many bikes can you show?

Sounds like a good thing to raise money for and a chance for the mini bikers to get thier bikes out. I know if I were closer, I'd be there in attendance. I think everyone out there has known someone who was affected by cancer or has been up an close to dealing with cancer on some level. Keep us posted with Pics when you have it.

Just a heads up, don't use "for the cure" in any of your marketing pieces. The Susan G. Komen Foundation has been going after not-for-profits (NFP) for using the copyrighted trademark "for the cure" phrase. I know it sounds petty, but it has been happening and NFP organizations have been sued. :eek:ut:

Too bad we are all so spread out. Would be great to have a show and other event stuff. Maybe Someday give away purple( reLay colors) mini to a child with cancer.

not to be grumpy, but why is it always about the kids? I mean they need it too, but I have lived for five( or more) years with brain cancer and noone has done anything for me! Just sayin..

There are tons of programs out there for adults too,the problem with some of these programs are they get taken advantage of. With kids they are in the time of their life that they are not able to do things for themselves. Your still alive,so how did you make it with no help?

Your right!!!
The however, the relay here does focus mostly on seniors because its heavily connected with the local VA hospital.
But new goverment rules won't allow the VA to host the event on their property as of last year. All the people at the VA were so upset but the High school kids and community really kicked in. Hopefully it will open things up to the community even more.
I was actually trying to do somthing to involve the kids because the event does involve mostly senior adult survivors. The kids kinda take a hit on this event!!!
