Removing tire labels

Has anyone tried sanding or using a knife to remove the manufacturer's name from the sidewall of a tire? I'm not real happy that I have chen shing on them.

I had a bead tear and pop off on one of those tires last summer...one side of the tire blew off the rim while I was moving...I bought six new Carlisles to replace them on my bikes.

I saw a hot rod at a car show once with no writing on the tires. The guy said he used ben-gay to get them off ut: I dont know if he was just pulling my leg but its worth a try. I would skim them off with a new razor blade. Tire deflated just incase. Then maby some sand paper and try rubbing it out with the ben gay lol. let us know how it goes
