I just did one on my Simplex. I used crushed stone and CLR. And shook it until my arms feel off. It came out real nice, better then expected. One fellow here will fill them with sand and put it on a paint shaker and his come out looking new.

POR 15 sells a kit to clean etch and coat/ seal your tank.

Thanks for the tips. What i POR???
One of the best motorcycle gas tank liners. Red-Kote is another good one. I used the POR15 on a big Honda tank and it seemed to work well. I ordered it right off their website. I have used muriatic acid on really rusty tanks. It will get rid of all the rust. It's probably best to line the tank after using acid as it will flash rust without it.

I ended up taking it to a local radiator store and he said he would take care of the whole thing and put a sealer in it. (The tank was very bad)! But when I got it back there wouldnt be any paint on it eaither ,lol I said "Perfect, It is getting painted anyways" . It is going tocost me $150.00 to get the tank done . Do what ya gotta do i guess .I want the original tank on the bike.....
