Side Project

#1
So living in Germany has gotten me bored, my main kart is in America. I only get to drive the thing for about two months around the year, so I decided to have fun with a little side project. I went and looked around till I found a decent, but restorable kart. The kart I ended up buying was an old direct drive racing kart. In its current shape, it will easily pull 50 Mph and i'm told (by the seller) that it will go up to about 10-11k RPM. Tach is on the way, until then I need to do a few things:

Find a better way to start it, push starting it is not fun, trust me.
Give it a paint job, I have no idea what this guy was thinking when he painted it.
Replace brake fluid and bleed the system.
Get a new seat and muffler.

All together I'm doing this on a limited budget as I'm a student, though I'm confident I can get it done.
Back to the starter, has anyone ever seen something that could possibly fit that square nub? I did some searching, but I haven't been able to find anything. I have also looked into making an Easi-Start wheel, because to my knowledge nobody makes them anymore.

If anyone has tips, tricks or ideas I'm open to them!
