TAV clutch glazing?

Doing maintenance on my Hawg-Ty bike I pulled the TAV clutch apart ( engine side) and found the drive cone and the centrifugal weights were badly glazed.
It took crocus cloth to remove the glazing. The clutch was jerking badly on the last trail of my ride. A test ride up a steep hill was normal again with no slippage.
Is this a normal occurrence?

Yes but usually it’s the belt gets glazed.

We have a very fine sand/dust and it looks to have turned to glass from the friction and heat on the pulley surfaces.

Put talc powder on the sides of the TAV belt and it will stop jerking/grabbing. It's normal for the sheaves to get glazed from the belt scuffing on them.
