Tecumseh Dial Indicator Tool P/N 670241 (Reno) $45

#8
You have me concerned....is there an issue with using 670241 dial indicator? I’m assuming it’s in the foot? Getting it centered? Thanks

Dave
No, the only issue with them, is that they routinely sell for too much money when as Markus said in the other thread, a regular dial indicator will do. You just need to make a fixture for the regular indicators if you didn't buy it with one, and you will have to time the engine with the head off, which is what you will end up doing anyway.

The Tec tool works fine, and it can be adapted to do other things.

For less money, you can get the same quality (Starrett) and get an entire set that will do more without limiting you to having to use a spark plug threaded fixture.

Here is a vintage Starrett with all of the parts as a nice kit. There are others on Ebay. I paid nearly $70 for my Tecumseh tool because I was dumb enough to think I needed that and only that to time a Tecumseh. :) Not really. I just "wanted" it because it was a Tecumseh tool. I'd sell it in a heartbeat, if I hadn't already made so many fixtures for it.
